2023, Domaine de la Vougeraie, BÂTARD-MONTRACHET, Grand CruThe 2023 Btard Montrachet Grand Cru takes a little coaxing from the glass, eventually revealing popcorn and white peach scents. It is perhaps missing a little mineralit at the moment. The palate is crisp on the entry with a citric thread of acidity and fine concentration, lightly spiced if just a little primal and lacking some amplitude on the finish. quite rich for an Esprit de Chevalier with tropical notes of guava and passion fruit furnishing the finish

then revealing an earthy sous-bois

an adjacent plot of very old vines (older than the others)

Finishes direct and poised

2023 is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc
