Itajime Shibori Techniques WorkshopIn this shibori dyeing class, open to beginners or returning Beginner Shibori students, we will focus on Itajime techniques. These focus on using folding and blocks to create tradition patterns. Learn the difference between triangle, grid and the lovely ways to fold to create pieces that resemble mandalas. We start by talking about the natural indigo vat used and how to balance it. Sankaku, gshi, kikk, and asanoha will all be show, as well as some fun
then hem and topstitched the edges for beautiful finished look
All fabrics are hand dyed and printed in runs of 5 yards and never replicated
Both sides printed
LINEN: Requiring far fewer chemical inputs than cotton and little to no irrigation
extra special details are hand stitched onto the textile
This rescued linen was first hand painted with wax and hand dyed in avocado green reactive dye
+ Scarlet red almond shells
I may suggest using blocks that are already prepared however
A fructose indigo vat starter will be shown
All resist materials will be available to you
Intro techniques are introduced and we will focus on creating an all natural indigo using ferrous sulfate
